I've missed you guys so much! Your girl has been gone for a while and the subject of this newsletter should give you some clue as to exactly why. Trust me, I hear you Reader, it sounds a bit harsh, but bear with me. The truth is many of us get this walk with God confused, which is why we often end up feeling disappointed or discouraged.
So many messages out there focus solely on what God can do for us. It’s easy to get caught up in a self-centered mindset, where we believe the world—and even God’s Word—revolves around us. We cling to verses like Jeremiah 29:11, which has been pretty much burned into my mind, and sometimes without realizing believe that everything is about our desires, and our timing. But today, I’m here to gently burst that bubble and bring us all back down to earth.
My family and I have been believing God for something for quite a while now—something He promised us. We were so certain, sacrificing everything (literally), full of faith, up until the moment we weren't. God brought us back to a place we never imagined we'd be again, and I won’t lie to you—I felt disappointed, betrayed, angry, and confused.

"God, why would You do this? How could You let this happen? I thought You said...?"
And the most painful question of all: "Why does it seem like everyone else is getting what they want, while we’re left feeling defeated, wondering if we truly serve the God of the universe?"

But in the midst of our hurt and confusion, God revealed something powerful to my mom, and through her, to the rest of us. He said, "Not everything is about you." I have to admit, that stung.
Read that again Reader.
God isn’t concerned with making sure everything in our lives goes according to our plans or keeping us comfortable, most times our comfort keeps us stuck. His mission is, and always will be, about His Kingdom. Purpose will always take precedence over our comfort. If fulfilling that purpose means we have to endure a cross, then so be it. Just ask Jesus.
Am I saying God doesn’t love you? Absolutely not. But we often misunderstand what God’s goodness looks like. We assume that when God says He has good plans for us, it means comfort, ease, and everything happening on our schedule. But the truth is, God’s idea of good isn’t just about the destination—it’s about the process. And in that process, His purpose is being fulfilled, whether we see it or not. We are not simply here for ourselves, but to be used by and for God in everything.
God reminded me of the story of the blind man (John 9:1-12). When Jesus healed him, the disciples asked if his blindness was due to his or his parents' sins. But Jesus responded that it wasn’t because of any sin—it was so that God’s glory could be revealed. This man probably spent his life wondering if God loved him, questioning his worth, and feeling cursed. Yet, he was chosen to be a part of a divine moment, to bear witness to the Christ .
You’ve probably experienced things that made you question God, your holiness, and even your worthiness. But those moments were simply threads in the garment of God's glory, woven together to clothe you in His purpose.
We often think that being created for a purpose means fame, success, or fortune. But we should rejoice that God has handpicked us to go through trials so that we can one day be a beacon of hope for someone else.
Let’s start looking at our challenges from a perspective of purpose. It might not make the pain go away, but it will make it worth enduring.
Prayer For October
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank You for Your unfailing love and wisdom. Help us to trust in Your purpose, even when the path is difficult and the destination unclear. Remind us that we are part of a greater plan, one that goes beyond our comfort and understanding.
Strengthen our hearts to endure the process, knowing that it is in these trials that Your glory is revealed. Let us be vessels of Your purpose, willing to walk the path You have set before us, with faith that You are with us every step of the way.
In Jesus’ name, we pray.
Amen.
